Our center offers polar body diagnosis (PBD) for families with high risk for a particular monogenic disorder.

PBD can only be performed, if the female is carrier of a particular disease causing mutation for an autosomal recessive, dominant or X chromosomal inherited disorder.
The mutation has to be identified and the couple informed about inheritance, clinical spectrum and course of this particular genetic disorder as well as other options incl. conventional prenatal diagnosis.
